PATCHS Online Consultations

Our PCN works in partnership with our member GP practices to help manage and respond to PATCHS online consultation requests on their behalf.

PATCHS provides patients with a convenient way to contact their GP practice online about a health concern or request. By working together across the PCN, we can help ensure appropriate requests are reviewed and managed efficiently by the right member of the team.

How the PCN supports our practices

Our PCN team supports member practices by reviewing and managing appropriate PATCHS requests on their behalf.

Where a patient’s needs can be addressed without a traditional GP appointment, the team can provide the appropriate support or help direct the patient to the right service.

This approach is expected to release capacity equivalent to approximately 1,000 appointments each month across our member practices, helping practices make more appointments available for patients who need to be seen by a clinician.

What happens when I submit a PATCHS request?

When you submit a PATCHS request through your GP practice, the information you provide is reviewed and the most appropriate next step is identified.

Depending on your request, this could include advice or information, support with an administrative request, signposting to another appropriate service, or an appointment with a healthcare professional where needed.

Using PATCHS helps us make sure that patients receive the right support, from the right person or service, while making the best use of appointments across our practices.

How to access PATCHS

To submit an online consultation, visit your GP practice website and follow the link to PATCHS.

The availability of PATCHS and the types of requests that can be submitted may vary between practices. Please check your GP practice website for further information.

PATCHS should not be used for medical emergencies. If you need urgent or emergency medical assistance, please use the appropriate NHS urgent or emergency care service.
